The POS price is only the beginning
Payment fees follow every sale. Learn how to compare restaurant transaction costs, spot per-order charges and keep more of your growth with ninito.

Compare what your restaurant pays over a full year, not only the subscription. Payment rates, fixed transaction fees, equipment and SMS can change the answer completely.
A small monthly bill can hide a much bigger cost
The subscription is easy to compare. It is one number, usually printed in large type. Transaction costs are quieter. A percentage here, a fixed amount there, another charge for an online order. Those amounts follow your restaurant through every lunch, takeaway and busy Saturday night.
A low or zero monthly fee can come with a higher variable cost. It does not always, which is why the important comparison is your own sales volume. Ask what the same restaurant pays at today’s turnover and after a successful year of growth. You should know who benefits when the kitchen gets busier.
Put every cost beside the sale it belongs to
Separate the POS subscription from payment processing, any platform commission and charges for individual messages or orders. Then divide payments into the channels you actually use. Counter, kiosk and online checkout can have different rates, even when the same restaurant receives the money.
Use a recent settlement statement to record the card and payment-method mix. BankAxept, international cards and online payments are different categories. Comparing the lowest rate from one offer with the blended average from another will not tell you which setup costs less.
- Monthly software and support
- Percentage payment fees by method and channel
- Any fixed fee per transaction or online order
- Equipment purchase or rental over the full term
- SMS, accounting connections and other separate services
Calculate what the percentage does as you grow
A difference of 0.5 percentage points costs 25,000 kr a year on 5 million kr of payments to which that difference applies. At 10 million kr, it costs 50,000 kr. This is simple fee arithmetic, not a forecast of what a particular restaurant will save. The point is to calculate with the volume behind the headline.
Fixed fees deserve the same attention. A charge of 1 kr on 20,000 transactions adds 20,000 kr a year before the percentage fee. Small baskets make that fixed amount proportionally more important. Use separate examples for a coffee, a typical lunch and a family order.
Keep payment choices open
Ask which payment providers and methods your POS supports, which are available in your country and whether changing provider changes the software price. Ask for the in-store and online rates together. A comfortable guest experience and a sensible commercial agreement should be evaluated in the same decision.
ninito offers BankAxept in Norway at 0.161%, with 0% commission to ninito and no fixed fee per BankAxept transaction. The BankAxept rate applies to BankAxept payments. Review the available online and other card-payment options separately so the restaurant’s complete payment mix is covered.
Buy equipment for the job, without a hardware margin
Calculate equipment over the period you expect to use it. A monthly rental figure can look small beside a purchase price until you add the full term. Check ownership, replacement, warranty handling and what happens when the agreement ends. Keep equipment you can still use in the calculation.
ninito supplies hardware at its purchase cost with 0% markup. We do not build a hardware profit into the restaurant’s equipment bill. The aim is practical equipment that serves the team, with a clear price for the restaurant. That is part of the same approach as keeping unnecessary transaction charges out of the sale.
Count the messages as well as the orders
One guest relationship can involve a loyalty login, a food-ready message, a pickup reminder, a feedback invitation and a birthday reward. If messages are charged individually, a busy restaurant should count them before comparing the monthly subscription. They are useful service moments, not costs that should disappear from the buying decision.
For an illustration, 10,000 messages at 0.57 kr cost 5,700 kr. That is not a universal market tariff. It shows why even a small per-message price deserves its own line in a restaurant budget. Compare the total with the software subscription you are considering.
With ninito, guest SMS is included at no extra charge, and has been for more than 7 years. Registration, login, order updates, pickup reminders, feedback and birthday rewards can stay part of the guest experience without a separate ninito SMS bill.

Read Oakberry’s story and savingsYour growth should strengthen your restaurant
ninito’s mission is to put more commercial strength on the restaurant’s side. We bring restaurants together around better payment terms, equipment at cost and useful services included in the platform. It is the idea of collective strength applied to the everyday costs of running a restaurant.
That means working for competitive payment prices instead of adding a ninito commission to every sale. It means 0% hardware markup and included guest SMS. The more clearly those costs are separated, the easier it is for an owner to see what the restaurant keeps from its growth.
Your system should earn more than it costs
Start with your payment statement, transaction count, online-order volume and the equipment you already own. Add the messages your guest journey uses. Ask each supplier to calculate the same setup over twelve months, then repeat the calculation with the growth you are planning.
Bring the calculation to ninito’s restaurant-experienced team. We look at the payment mix alongside the menu, counter and kitchen. Support is included at no extra charge. Pro and Enterprise also include menu, campaign and loyalty setup and ongoing changes, so the restaurant gets the people needed to put the system to work.
The promise goes beyond a low processing rate. ninito Pro and Enterprise carry a 100% value guarantee. If ninito does not create enough value to cover what you pay for the system, you do not pay for it. Compare the fees you keep paying with the value you keep getting.
