Your service Your setup

A café at breakfast, a takeaway counter at lunch, a bar or nightclub after dark. Timed menus, connected payments and staff permissions let the setup follow your service. Hotel cafés and counters can use the same workflow, without room charging or a hotel PMS connection.

Hardware at cost

Use a supported browser and internet connection on the device that fits your service. Our equipment options include Apple devices and tested restaurant peripherals. Hardware purchased through ninito is supplied at our purchase price, with 0% markup. We do not offer rental or leasing.

Payments that stay with the order

Accept cards, cash, gift cards and supported mobile payments such as Vipps. Each transaction keeps its status, and refunds follow the original payment limits. We confirm the terminals, payment methods and accounting connection that fit your restaurant.

Access that follows responsibility

Choose who can see restaurant information and make changes through configurable roles and permissions. Agree the access for staff, managers and head office, together with the reporting and reconciliation routines your business needs.

Payments & refunds

Take the next order while customers pay

Send an order to a connected terminal, then take the next in the POS. Several customers can pay at once, with every payment tracked separately.

Simultaneous terminal payments

ninito has benchmarked 10 sales in 10 seconds from one POS. Connected terminals let payments continue while staff take the next order. Each payment keeps its own status; authorisation time depends on the payment setup and provider.

Combining payment methods

Combine gift cards, cash, card and other supported methods on one purchase, including an available customer balance. ninito tracks the remaining amount after each payment. This splits payment methods for one order, rather than creating separate guest bills.

Selling and redeeming gift cards

Sell several gift cards together and choose their validity. Redeem them by scanning, entering a code or using a balance attached to the customer. Multiple gift cards can contribute to one order, with another method covering the rest.

Cards, Nordic mobile payments and invoices

Accept cards, cash, Vipps, MobilePay and Swish according to market and setup. An attached customer’s phone number can prefill Vipps and remains editable. Invoice an appropriate business customer with required reference information.

Refund limits by payment method

Select items from the original order and record the refund reason. If 300 kroner was paid in cash and 700 by card, the cash refund cannot exceed 300. The POS warns if cash is insufficient; permissions and manager approval can apply.

Orders & menu

Take the full order in the POS

Give staff the choices, customisations and order information they need in the selling screen. Keep required selections, item notes and fulfilment details with each product.

Required choices and customised copies

Duplicate a customised item with its existing choices, then change only the option that differs. Required choices such as size must be completed. Item notes keep special requests attached to the right product.

Dine-in, takeaway and delivery items

Mark one item for takeaway inside an otherwise dine-in order. Change that item without changing the whole basket. ninito also distinguishes delivery, so products and promotions can follow the selected fulfilment type.

Menu categories, search and scanning

Manage categories and menu pages in back office. Schedule products, categories, prices and customisations by time of day. Run lunch bundles from 11 to 13, then restore the usual menu. On busy Friday evenings, limit the menu and disable a customisation category across its products. Staff can browse, search or scan supported products. Product or category age restrictions apply where configured.

Weighted and open-price products

Sell by weight in kilograms, hectograms or grams using an integrated scale or manual weight entry. Products can also request a price at checkout, for example for a market-price item or custom order.

Scheduled orders and pay later

Schedule an order for a future date and time instead of sending it immediately. Keep its comments, use pay later where appropriate, and print a check or pro-forma receipt when needed.

Loyalty & campaign rules

Bring customer loyalty into every sale

Identify guests, register new members and show their available rewards in the POS. Staff can use customer context to make the order more relevant.

Registration and login by SMS

Send a loyalty-registration link by SMS. Guests enter their details and complete your restaurant’s consent flow, including existing ninito customers. Check progress or resend the invitation. Staff can also send webshop or app login links by SMS.

Customer lookup and previous orders

Find guests by phone, email, name, wallet QR code or membership card. Search for a company to attach its business account and enable invoice payment where configured. Previous orders are available when staff have access; each restaurant keeps its own customer relationship.

Points, rewards and memberships

See point balances, earning, redemption and expiry beside the sale. Membership tiers and VIP benefits apply the eligible pricing and offers. Only authorised employees can adjust points or assign memberships; staff do not have to remember each customer’s benefits.

Campaign eligibility and automatic offers

Prompt staff when a basket is close to meeting campaign requirements. Apply the offer when its conditions are met. Check eligible products, fulfilment type and customer eligibility, plus minimum spend, expiry and remaining uses for promo codes.

Student and company verification

Verify student or company eligibility using a one-time code sent to the relevant email address. Enter the code in the POS and see how long verification remains valid, supporting your membership or discount programme.

Staff access & authorisation

Set the right access for every employee

Switch employees directly in the POS and set who can discount, refund, change products or adjust cash. Restricted actions can require a manager’s PIN.

Employee login and quick switching

Switch employees directly in the selling screen. Staff can use individual PINs, or the restaurant can configure access without a PIN where appropriate. Security requirements can vary by permission level.

Custom permission groups

Create custom permission groups for discounts, product changes, sold-out overrides, memberships, refunds, voids and cash adjustments. A manager cannot give someone a permission they do not have themselves.

Manager authorisation

Ask for a manager’s PIN when staff reach a restricted action, such as a refund or sensitive cash adjustment. Your permission setup decides when that authorisation is required.

Item and order discounts

Discount an item or the whole basket with a percentage, fixed amount or predefined restaurant discount. Enter an agreed final total or round down. Permissions control access, and the adjustment stays with the order.

Profiles and handedness settings

Adjust the POS layout for left-handed or right-handed employees and show profile photos at login. Staff without Norwegian phone numbers can use email and recover their PIN through their contact details. Permissions stay with each profile.

Cash & reconciliation

Manage each register from opening to closing

Count notes and coins, compare expected and actual cash, and record differences. Each register keeps its own opening balance, adjustments and closing count.

Opening balance verification

See the previous closing balance and who closed the register. Carry remaining cash into the expected opening amount, then confirm or adjust the actual count. Your setup can require a fresh count when the amounts differ.

Counting notes and coins

Count local notes and coins by quantity, using direct entry or plus and minus controls. ninito totals the drawer and compares it with expected cash, at opening and closing.

Cash movements and discrepancy reasons

Record money taken for supplies, change added from the safe and unused cash returned. Require reasons or notes for adjustments and differences where needed. The changes remain part of the register’s fiscal reporting.

Tender, change and tips

For a 347-kroner sale, suggest practical tender amounts such as 350, 400 or 500 and calculate the change. Cash rounding follows the configured market; electronic payments keep exact amounts. Record cash and supported terminal tips.

Closing balances and next-day float

Count and review differences, then choose tomorrow’s float and what is removed. Configure each register’s float, after-hours reminders when no basket is active, snoozing and required previous-day closure before sales continue.

Changes & recovery

Resolve payment and equipment issues from the POS

Retry a failed payment, manage temporary product availability and find guidance for disconnected equipment. Keep the original order and its status available to staff.

Timed product availability

Mark a product unavailable for a set time while the next batch cooks. Show its status in the selling screen. An authorised employee can override it when stock returns, without waiting for a back-office update.

Retrying failed payments

Distinguish waiting, completed, failed and rejected payments. Reopen and retry a failed transaction without rebuilding its order. Close completed transactions individually or together, and void abandoned ones while keeping their status separate from new orders.

Hardware warnings and guided help

Monitor connected printers, scanners and cash drawers. Open Fix now from a disconnection warning and watch a short diagnostic video for supported issues, giving staff practical checks to make at the counter.

Order lookup and receipts

Display the order number and send a receipt after payment. The transaction, item customisations and comments remain accessible for customer questions or refunds, keeping follow-up connected to the original purchase.

Employee activity and fraud review

Removed products remain as corrections; removing all items voids the order. Employee-linked refunds, voids and corrections retain reasons and authorisation where required. Activity reports help managers review repeated item removals, frequent voids or cash refunds for potential fraud or misuse.

Questions about the quick-service POS

Which devices can run ninito’s quick-service POS?

ninito is a browser-based restaurant POS for Android, iOS and Windows, including tablets, computers, phones and Tesla’s infotainment browser. Staff take orders, identify customers and manage sales on the screen that suits the restaurant. Payment terminals, printers, scanners and other peripherals need a supported hardware setup.

What does 10 sales in 10 seconds mean?

ninito has benchmarked 10 sales in 10 seconds from one POS. With connected payment terminals, staff can send a payment and take the next order while it continues in the background. Each transaction keeps its own status. This is a POS throughput benchmark; payment authorisation time depends on the provider and setup. The workflow suits busy quick-service restaurants, takeaway counters, bars, nightclubs and festivals.

How long does it take to learn the POS?

Feedback from 600 restaurants that started using ninito indicates that the everyday POS workflow takes under two minutes to learn. This estimate is based on their reported experience. Staff take the order, complete required product choices and move to payment in the same interface. Customer benefits and each employee’s permissions appear in context, so new staff have less to remember.

How does customer identification work?

Find a customer using a phone number, wallet QR code, customer search or company search. An identified loyalty or VIP account brings available points, membership tier, benefits and eligible pricing into the sale. A business account can enable invoice payment when configured. Staff access to customer information and previous orders is controlled by the restaurant.

What does AI do in the restaurant POS?

ninito uses AI and machine learning to recommend food and drinks from the current basket and aggregated purchasing patterns. Around 1.5 million active users interact with the platform each month. With consent, an identified guest’s previous purchases and shared preferences add context. Configured prices, permissions, menu schedules and campaign rules remain separate from AI recommendations. Each restaurant keeps its own customer relationship.

Does loyalty work across the POS, kiosk, webshop and app?

Yes. Customers can earn and use points and access eligible membership benefits across the restaurant’s connected ninito channels. Staff can invite a new member by SMS from the POS, and the customer enters their details and completes the restaurant’s consent flow. Points, VIP tiers, special prices and available benefits are brought into an identified customer’s sale.

Can I control what each employee can access?

Yes. Create custom permission groups for refunds, discounts, reports, cash, settings, product changes and customer information. Restricted actions can request a manager’s PIN. Managers cannot grant permissions they do not hold. Employee activity reports retain corrections, voids and refunds for review, helping managers investigate unusual activity.

Which payment methods can customers use?

ninito supports cards, cash, gift cards, customer balances, Vipps, MobilePay, Swish and business invoices according to market and setup. Supported payment methods can be combined on one order. The POS tracks the remaining amount, and refunds cannot exceed the original amount paid through each method. A failed payment can be retried without rebuilding the order.

How does the POS connect to the rest of the restaurant?

ninito connects the POS with the kitchen display, self-service kiosks, webshop, restaurant app and QR ordering. Products and menus can be shared across channels, customer loyalty follows identified guests, and sales appear in live reporting. Orders and their choices reach the connected kitchen display, so the front counter and kitchen work from the same order information.

Can the menu change automatically during the day?

Yes. Schedule products, categories, prices and customisation options. Run selected lunch bundles from 11 to 13, return to the usual menu, then use a smaller menu during the Friday rush. Disable a customisation category across products or raise selected late-night prices by a percentage you choose. Your restaurant sets the times, weekdays and rules. These are configured menu rules, separate from AI recommendations. Staff can also mark a sold-out product unavailable for a set time, with overrides controlled by permissions.
