Choose a POS around your service
A useful demonstration looks like a real shift. Here is what to ask a supplier to show, from the first order to the last reconciliation.

Choose a restaurant POS by testing a real shift. Run your menu, kitchen workflow, payment exceptions and accounting through the demonstration before comparing the total price.
Bring a shift, not a feature list
Describe a busy day at your restaurant. How do guests order? Who sends the food to the kitchen? What happens when a dish sells out, a guest changes tables or a payment fails? Ask to see those moments on screen.
A supplier saying yes to a feature does not show how well it fits your team. Watch the number of handovers, repeated entries and decisions staff have to make during a normal order.
Test the service model that earns your revenue
For table service, try a table move, a shared dish, course timing and a split bill. For quick service, test modifiers, kitchen routing, simultaneous payments and an incoming delivery order. A restaurant doing both should see both in the demonstration.
- Change an order after it has reached the kitchen.
- Handle an unavailable product across the relevant channels.
- Retry a payment and issue an appropriate refund.
- Close the day and locate the records your accountant needs.
Follow the information beyond the till
The POS is one part of the operation. Ask how orders reach KDS, how delivery menus are maintained and how sales reach accounting. For a group, check which settings are shared and which stay local. Confirm each integration by provider and product version.
Ask about the days that do not go to plan
Confirm internet and hardware requirements, the support channels available during service and the agreed escalation process. Ask what happens when a payment provider or delivery platform is unavailable. Cloud software should not be assumed to work offline unless that specific behaviour is documented.
Include the guest relationship
Follow one guest beyond the payment. Ask how the restaurant recognises a returning customer, manages loyalty points and sends an order update. Check which channels participate and who controls the customer permissions. A loyalty programme should be demonstrated through earning and redeeming a reward, not only shown as a logo in a product slide.
For a restaurant group, test the same guest at a second location. Decide which rewards should be shared and which belong to one restaurant. The answer should match your concept rather than force every site to use identical campaigns.
Choose the commitment as well as the features
After each demonstration, write down what worked, what needs configuration and what the supplier still has to show. Use the same categories for every finalist. Include the people responsible for service, kitchen, accounting and support so one attractive screen does not decide the whole purchase.
Ask what commitment stands behind the proposal. ninito Pro and Enterprise include a 100% value guarantee. If ninito does not create enough value to cover what you pay for the system, you do not pay for it. Our team can walk through the guarantee alongside your menu, payment mix and launch plan, so the decision is grounded in the restaurant you actually run.
Let the team try it
Bring the people who take orders, prepare food and close the day. ninito’s restaurant-experienced team works through those tasks with you, from the menu choices to the kitchen handover. Included support continues in Norwegian and English 24/7/365 at no extra charge. You are choosing the people beside your restaurant as well as the software in front of it.
Questions worth asking
How can a restaurant compare POS demonstrations fairly?
Give each supplier the same menu and service scenarios. Test ordering, kitchen preparation, payment exceptions and reconciliation with the people who will use the system.
Should price decide which restaurant POS to choose?
Compare the complete cost alongside the demonstrated workflow and implementation plan. A starting price alone does not show the integrations, service or equipment your restaurant needs.
